Principal and Solicitor

Attended Tauntons Grammar School Southampton & College of Law Guildford. All Law Society exams passed at first attempt with distinction in Accounts. Started in profession in 1972 & qualified in 1978 when moved to work for large practice in Bournemouth area, eventually becoming a partner and running firm’s Christchurch office, set up present practice in 1988 covering most aspects of private and commercial legal work.

Broad-ranging experience & pleased to offer clients the ability to deal with different types of legal work. Member and former Chairman of Christchurch Community Leisure Association Ltd, an Industrial and Provident Society which runs the Cricket School at Hurn Bridge Christchurch; past president of Bournemouth Rotary club; founding trustee of the Sakya Thubten Ling Tibetan Buddhist Centre Bournemouth. Interests include cycling, squash, golf, swimming and history. Married with two grown-up children.

Michael Annen

Associate Solicitor

Mike qualified as a Solicitor in 1976. Attended College of Law at Guildford & Chester. A Bournemouth man born and bred who has worked in Partnership locally and for a short while ran his own firm before joining Richard Sedgley in 1999. Specialises in non-contentious matters including conveyancing (residential and commercial), probate, company and partnership and employment tribunal work. Is able to offer a personal comprehensive service. Mike is married with two children. Interests are classic cars, sailing, squash and tennis.

John Carmichael

Consultant Solicitor

John has been a solicitor for over 30 years and there are very few other solicitors in the area with his experience of litigation. He has the breadth and depth of knowledge to handle any situation and the ability to ensure that each client feels that they are his only one. Dedicated wholly to his clients by working out of hours, weekends and home visits for clients unable to come into the office. John handles employment, neighbour disputes, breach of contract, injuries at home, at work or abroad, financial disputes, civil litigation, matrimonial and personal injury primarily.

Cath Porter

Graduate Legal Executive

A Graduate Member of the Institute of Legal Executives dealing with all aspects of family law, Cath is committed to making sure all of her clients resolve their matter as swiftly and amicably as possible and only involves the Court process as the last resort. She has a friendly approach not only to her clients but to all of her work colleagues, which she feels is very important.

Kerrie Ashford

Secretary to Richard Sedgley

Kerrie attended Avonbourne School, studied law and psychology at Brockenhurst College and is now in her third year of the Ilex legal executive course at Southampton University. Kerrie started with the firm in 2006 and, after a short spell with the Nationwide Building Society in 2008, returned to the firm.

Debbie has been a legal secretary since the 1970’s and has worked for her husband Michael Annen for 11 years. Has gained extensive experience in many aspects of the law during this time and is fully WP conversant.

Julie Roberts

Secretary to John Carmichael

Julie has been a legal secretary for over 20 years and has been a dedicated member of staff at this firm for the past two years. Dealing with a variety of aspects of the law, she has a broad knowledge across the board and is ever-enthusiastic towards her work.

Hannah Roberts

Hannah is the newest member of the firm and has worked for Cath for a year now; she has developed a wide interest in law, with particular focus on family aspects and aspires to become a Legal Executive in the future. Hannah is also a keen horse-rider, photographer and artist.
